Area of a Circle

Area of a Circle

A circle is a geometric shape where every point on the outer edge is the same distance from the center point of the circle. (This distance is called the radius of the circle.)

The area of the circle — the amount of space it takes up — can be expressed as:

    Area = π r2

where π is a constant number equivalent to 3.1415926… and r is the radius of the circle.
