In the book Amos Fortune Freeman Amos shows Inner Joy, Love and Courage. He is always happy even through hard times.

He never gives up and has a dream to accomplish. Amos shows a lot of Inner Joy. Amos showed inner joy a lot through the book. After his first owner Mr. Copeland died Amos was sold to a man Mr. Richardson. He worked happily with the thought of soon he would be free. While he was a slave for Mr. Richardson, when he worked he did not complain. One day he was looking in the mirror and saw his younger sisters face. He got sad but he just got over it and soon became happy. He had asked Mr. Richardson if he could go out to where the ships landed in search of his younger sister. No matter what happened Amos had Inner Joy.

To show love you have to care for others even when they don't deserve it which Amos had. After he was free he wanted to marry lily. He loved her even though soon she would die. After lily died he married Lydia. Amos also had love for her even though she could not move around much because of a broken leg. Soon he married a lady named Violet, with violet was Celyndia Violets daughter. While going to church Amos met the Burdoo family. Even though Violet disliked them Amos helped them by buying the oldest daughter Polly. Soon Polly died the family was sad but since Amos had love for the family Polly died free.

Amos had courage, the strength to not give up. At the begging before he comes to America he was captured and was tied up and wanted to break free. He did not care at all about the horrible stinging lashings he might get. Later after marrying Violet in America they moved to Jaffrey. There he met the city constable, he bowed respectfully and talked respectfully and did not show fear. After settling in Jaffrey he started selling leather. He was asked by a white man for some leather and met him to sell the leather to him. The white man rudely threw a bag of money with less than what was required. Though Amos got angry with the man he courageously walked away back home. Throughout the book Amos set an example by having Inner Joy, Love And Courage. Amos Fortune Freeman Was Inspiring and a great example to others. Not many People have as much Inner Joy as Amos Had.
