About College-Cram
What is College-Cram?

College-Cram is an education social network dedicated to helping students get better grades faster by creating, connecting, and learning in our educational community. We are a repository of interactive Cramlets™ (learning modules), study sheets, tutorials, articles, blogs, and student-generated content (notes, presentations, assignments, and articles).

What is the purpose of College-Cram?

The purpose is to help students connect with learning and get better grades faster in a interactive community of educators and learners.

Can I get involved?

Yes, you can get involved in College-Cram by signing up for a free registration. Once you have joined the College-Cram community, you can access all of our official content and student-generated content, create your own notebook entries, assignment lists, notes, blogs, and articles.

Who owns College-Cram?

College-Cram is soley owned and operated by The Smartacus Corporation, an educational web design group.

How much does College-Cram cost?

College-Cram is free to use, but we ask that you help us out by supporting our advertisers and sponsors (who in turn help us keep College-Cram free for you).

Can I use College-Cram in my university?

Yes, you can use College-Cram in your university! As an instructor you can sign-up and create a group specifically for your class and designate your community for "Moderation," allowing you to approve all memberships. As a student you can use it to create a community for a study group for your classes and invite your friends to join. There are other ways that we haven't even thought of yet, so share them with us at support@college-cram.com

Accounts
How do I create an account?

You can create an account by clicking on the "Free Registration" button located at the top of the page or on the "Free Registration" link in the left-hand column. Follow the instructions on the Join page to complete the process, and Thanks for Joining!

Are there different types of accounts?

No, every account allows the same access to create, connect, and learn. Future site upgrades may introduce premium services, though, so check back later.

How do I delete my account?

If you absolutely feel the need to leave us and have your account deleted then send us a request for your account to be deleted at support@college-cram.com. Please make sure you include "Delete Account" in the subject line of the email, and your username in the body of your request.

Communities
What is a Community?

A community is a group of learners and educators centered around a subject, school, class, or common interest. A community can share notes, assignments, presentations, files, photos, blogs, and RSS feeds. The learning materials can either be shared exclusively within the community, with logged in members of College-Cram, or with the public as a whole.

How do I join a Community?

When you find a community you would like to join, simply click the "Click here to join this community" link located in the left-hand column under the community profile icon.

Friends
How do I link to my friends?

When you find a friend you would like to link to click on the "Click here to add this student as a friend" link located in the left-hand column under the student profile icon.

What constitutes a friend I can link to?

A friend is anyone you would like to make a friend with in the College-Cram community. All students have the ability to moderate their Friendship requests by setting their Friendship moderation to one of the follow choices (No moderation, Moderation, or Private) in their account settings.

Access privileges
What are my access privileges?

You have complete control over your access privileges for your account. You can designate any part of your account or content as private (nobody but you can see it), public (everyone can see it), logged in students (everyone who's logged in can see it), or only for a specified community (only logged in community members can see it).

How do I change access privileges on an element in my Notebook?

Click on the element in your Notebook and then click on edit. For each section of your notebook entry you have the ability to set the access rights to - private, public, logged in students, or for a specified community.

Registration support
What do I get with a Free Registration?

Free Registration lets you create content (notes, presentations, assignments, and articles), track assignments, comment on other people's content, and connect with other College-Cram learners. It also includes our regular College-Cram newsletter.

What's my username?

You create your own username during the Free Registration process on the "Join" page.

How do I get my password?

As part of your Free Registration an "invitation code" is sent to your email address from Professor@college-cram.com for validation. (Be sure to add Professor@college-cram.com to your mail filter's approved list.) Clicking on the "invitation code" link in your email will launch the Join page, where you set your username and password.

Site support
What browsers work best with this site?

This site works best with Mozilla Firefox 1.5 and Opera 8.51. It also works well with Netscape Navigator 7.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, on either MacOS or Windows operating systems.

What other technologies does this site need?

This site works best with Javascript enabled. Also, many of the Cramlets require a Flash player (which almost all web browsers have already installed).

What is your privacy policy?

Our privacy policy can be reviewed in full by clicking this link. We do not save any cookies to your hard disk, and we do not use spyware.

How often are the Community Notebook contents updated?

Our development efforts are ongoing, so the library grows whenever we have new resources ready for your use. Typically, we create dozens of new products each month to help you study smarter. We are also excited to see new content added by our students and applaud all blogs, notebook entries, and community development activities.

How can I make suggestions on new Subjects or topics I'd like to see?

This website is built for students, so we love hearing from you. Use Contact to tell us what subjects and/or concepts you want to see. Let us know, too, what you think of what we already have.

Does this site use cookies?

This site uses per-session cookies to facilitate the login process. It does not otherwise leave any cookies (or spyware) on your hard disk.

I forgot my password. How do I get a new one?

Click here for Forgotten Password, and then enter your username and click the Request button to have a new password sent to your email address.

How do I change my password?

You'll need to log in first, then you can click on the "Account Settings" located on the top right side in the main toolbar. In the "edit user details" you can change your password.

Can I change my username?

No, unfortunately you cannot change your username. You can change your screen name, though, by clicking on the "Account Settings" located on the top right side in the main toolbar. In the "edit user details" you can change your screen name.

The site won't let me login, what's up?

Since the login process requires per-session cookies, you'll need to enable them. (Per-session cookies are non-stored cookies that retain no demographic information about you -- they only help identify your login.)

How do the Formula Solver Series programs work?

Formula Solver! Series programs are all organized in a similar fashion. After reviewing the brief explanation of the concept, click the Begin button to start. Click the Next and Prev buttons to move forwards and backwards through the step-by-step solution. (**Hint: Once you have the correct answer, you can change the values and click Next again to recalculate all the steps.**)

How do the flashcard programs work?

Click the gray box under the term to reveal the matching definition. The Next and Prev buttons move you through the displayed theme; you can change the theme by clicking the << and >> buttons. Study in reverse order by clicking the Term=>Match button. (This may be called something else like Foreign=>English.) As you learn the terms, mark them by checking the "I Know This" box so you can exclude them with the Exclude Known Terms button.

How do the Tab Tutor programs work?

These programs all follow a four-tab layout, and you can click on each tab to access its contents. The first tab is a general introduction to the concept, the second and third tabs have examples that explore the concepts in more detail. (You can usually enter your own numbers here and walk through the solutions.) The fourth tab is a glossary of terms -- just mouse over the term on the left to see a detailed definition.

How do the trivia programs work?

Each trivia quiz consists of ten randomly selected questions. You get one point for clicking on the correct answer on your first try. Click the << and >> buttons to move through the questions, and click the curved arrow in the top right corner to generate a new quiz.

How do the financial ratio programs work?

Financial ratio programs are all similarly organized. First they walk you through the ratio using the Bogus Manufacturing Corporation's financial statements. You then get the chance to enter your own values, with which the program recalculates the steps and correct answers. (Click the Next and Prev buttons to move through the tutorial.)
