I need to write a word problem that can be represented by a system of equations and can be graphed.

Any ideas.  I have a tuff enough time solving word problems.

  1. How about something about costs for manufacturing that has a fixed and variable component and revenue based on sales (quantity times price) to solve for profit at a given level of production/sales? Would that work for you?

  2. That would be great

  3. Here is one take on that approach. Other folks may have other ideas. Good luck!

Let's say rent costs $2,000 per month, labor costs $100 per dumaflatchet they make and material costs are $75 each. They sell dumaflatchets for $500. Graph the costs and revenue to show the profit/loss at different levels of production/sales.

  4. Rodney, there's an algebra thingy on graphing systems of equations and you could use the default values in your word problem.
