According to IMDB, Thompson played the president in two movies. He played Pres. Ulysses S. Grant in a tv movie "Bury my heart at Wounded Knee" and a fictional President Charles Ross in the straight-to-video "Last Best Chance."
Not a great resume by any standards, since Grant was one of the worst US Presidents and Ross was unable to prevent three separate terrorist groups from smuggling nuclear weapons into the US...
